Writer

Washington, D.C. (preferred)

Trilogy is a full-service agency at the forefront of digital politics and advocacy. For more than a decade, we’ve built movements, won elections (and awards), and shaped what’s possible — not just online, but in the world.

If you are a creative, adaptable copywriter ready to put your skills to work for Trilogy’s electoral, nonprofit, and labor union clients, we want to hear from you. Writers located in the Washington, D.C. area are preferred, but those located in Chicago, the Bay Area, or other parts of the U.S. as listed below are invited to apply as well. Election years (including 2026) may involve evening and weekend work, particularly from July through October.

Responsibilities:

  • Write copy and scripts for digital display ads, 15- or 30-second videos, and longer explainer videos, in collaboration with designers
  • Write email and social media copy for a variety of clients, in a variety of voices
  • Pitch innovative ideas that break the political advertising and email “molds”
  • Assist with Trilogy marketing emails, one-pagers, case studies, and social content
  • Draft business proposals with guidance and feedback from internal stakeholders
  • Copyedit and/or QA proposals, client-facing memos, and internal policy and procedural documents
  • Understand and stay abreast of the social science behind persuasive writing
  • Manage time and meet same-day deadlines when necessary
  • Communicate with manager and/or teammates when questions, challenges, or new ideas arise

Qualifications:

  • Experience writing advertising, email, digital video, and social media content in a deadline-driven environment
  • Ability to learn about new topics quickly
  • Ability to distill complex ideas into attention-getting, memorable messages, often in 15 or 30 second videos
  • Exceptional command of English grammar and usage, experience with AP and other style guides, and nuanced understanding of when to bend or break the rules in service of a higher goal
  • Ability to graciously respond to constructive criticism and offer the same
